Windows Taskbar

The Windows "Taskbar" is located just to the right of the Windows Start menu icon or button in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. The items on the Taskbar are much like the items you have pinned to the Windows Start menu. They are items that are commonly used, and easy to move to. Usually, Windows has items such as "Internet Explorer, Windows File Explorer and the Windows Media Player pinned to this area. You can pin items to the Taskbar just like you did for the Windows Start menu in the "Windows Pinning Items to the 'Start menu"" lesson. Do the following activity to move to the Windows "Taskbar." When you are finished move to the link at the bottom of this page titled "BACK" to go to the "Simple Windows Lessons" web page.

1. Press and hold down the Windows key and hit the letter d or m to move to the Windows Desktop.

2. Hit the Windows key one time.

3. Hit the Windows key a second time.

4. Hit the Tab key one time and you will be on the Windows "Taskbar."

5. Right arrow through the "Taskbar." In Windows 7 the right arrow takes you through the Taskbar and directly into the Task Manager programs. This does not matter because you can hit the Enter key on any item in the Taskbar or Task Manager, and that item will come up and be ready to use.

6. Left arrow through the Taskbar."

7. Practice the above until you are familiar with the Windows Taskbar.
